This program introduces the student to basic patient care. Students are taught aseptic procedures, transfer of patients, vital signs, personal care, food services, medical terminology, communication skills, HIV /AIDS, OSHA regulations, care of the dying patient.
At the end of the program, the student will be able to measure and record vital signs, demonstrate body mechanics, give adequate personal care to patients, demonstrate adequate knowledge of aseptic techniques, admit, transfer and discharge patients, understand the role and responsibility of the nurse assistant, understand certain medical abbreviations and medical terminology. The student would have acquired the skills needed to perform nursing care.
